About
Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama is Japan's oldest hot spring, with a history spanning 3,000 years. The iconic Dogo Onsen Honkan bathhouse (1894) is said to have inspired the bathhouse in Miyazaki's Spirited Away.
Crowd Avoidance
Visit between 2-4pm when most guests are sightseeing, or after 9pm for a quiet soak. Avoid weekends and holiday periods.
Getting There
Dogo-Onsen Station (Iyotetsu tram from Matsuyama, 20 min). Matsuyama has flights from Tokyo/Osaka.
