The Saraku sand bath facility on the beach is the most popular. Go in the morning for the hottest sand. The experience is surreal and deeply relaxing.

About
Ibusuki offers a unique onsen experience — you lie on the beach in a yukata while attendants bury you in naturally heated volcanic sand (85°C). The 10-15 minute sand bath is followed by a regular onsen soak. Completely unique to this area.
Crowd Avoidance
Visit between 2-4pm when most guests are sightseeing, or after 9pm for a quiet soak. Avoid weekends and holiday periods.
