Insider Tip

Beyond the static exhibits, prioritize attending the live demonstrations of the historic textile machinery and the robotic automobile production line. These often run at specific intervals throughout the day and are the best way to truly appreciate the 'Monozukuri' spirit; check the demo schedule upon arrival or on their official website for precise timings. Also, don't miss the Circular Loom, a designated Heritage of Industrial Modernization.

JEMS Tip

For seamless transit to the museum, JEMS recommends taking the Meitetsu Nagoya Honsen line from Nagoya Station to Sako Station (approximately 2 minutes, ¥180), which is just one stop north. Utilize the audio tour app available for download, allowing for a self-paced, in-depth exploration of both the Textile Machinery and Automobile Pavilions. We can also pre-book a group guided tour for a more personalized experience.

About

Housed in the original early 20th-century plant, the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology showcases Toyota's journey from textile machinery to an automotive giant. Visitors can experience dynamic exhibits, live demonstrations of actual machinery, and learn about the 'spirit of being studious and creative' and 'making things' (Monozukuri).

Crowd Avoidance

To avoid larger crowds, aim to visit on a weekday morning, preferably right at opening at 9:30 AM, or during the last hour before final entry at 4:30 PM. Weekends and national holidays, especially during spring and autumn school breaks, see significantly higher visitor numbers, with peak congestion around midday when school groups often arrive. Consider arriving late morning on a weekday for a smoother experience, allowing you to catch early afternoon demonstrations.

Getting There

From Nagoya Station, take the Meitetsu Nagoya Honsen line one stop north to Sako Station. The journey is approximately 2 minutes and costs ¥180. Alternatively, take the Meguru loop bus from Nagoya Station, which is the first stop and takes about 10 minutes.
